I wanted a pair of binoculars to take on my walks around RSPB Wallasea Island and using the website guidance opted for the Bresser Pirsch 10x42 Binoculars. These seem the right choice for this open landscape.
I've found them to be lightweight, the image bright, clear and easy to focus. The carry strap seems a bit flimsy but is comfortable and does it's job.
I'm very happy with my choice of binoculars and the advice and service from Stealth Birding.
In a nutshell......Very good for the money!
So if your reading the reviews I guess your trying to get a feel for which binoculars you should buy. Of course it depends on your needs and it depends what your comparing them to.
I’ve been using binoculars for years and whilst I’ve not been able to always buy the best I’ve gained a working knowledge of good and bad binoculars.
I bought the Pirsch 10x42 being on a tight budget for a pair of binoculars to keep in the car and at work. They are light, feel good to me in the hand. The diopter is easy to use and stays where you set it, the focus is smooth and doesn’t take excess amounts of turning. It would be nice if the depth of field was greater, thus needing less focus adjustment but I guess you can’t have everything for £200. The colour rendition is very good & for 10x configuration the field of view is ok. The image quality is very good And bright considering the price point. Good and sharp in the middle though getting less so quite quickly as you move to the edge of the field.....but once again.....for the money I think they are very good. Chromatic aberration is there but it’s not awful. As I said to start with, if your comparing them to the best.....they fall short, but compared to what you could buy 20 years ago at the same level....they are marvellous. Time will tell with regard to build quality so I can’t comment on that although the focusing wheel feels a little flimsy perhaps but otherwise they feel good! In short......when I unpacked them and looked through them I didn’t think ‘I wish I had paid a bit more & got a better pair’ I was content enough. Lastly, they arrived swiftly from Stealth but I can’t comment on customer service as I’ve had no need to contact them. Hope this helps!
